Validation of Hemoglobin and Water Molar Absorption Spectra in Near-Infrared Diffuse Optical Tomography
نویسندگان
چکیده
Near Infrared diffuse optical tomography was used to measure the molar absorption spectra for deoxyhemoglobin, oxyhemoglobin and water through phantom experiments. The measured spectra compensate for any systemic errors and errors arising from model-based estimation of concentrations of these chromophores, and show reasonable agreement with existing literature values. The spectra were validated by phantom experiments to obtain the oxygen dissociation curve. Variation of the partial pressure of oxygen in solution yielded results consistent with theory with mean error of 7.6% in estimation of oxygen saturation, and accurate within 5% in estimation of hemoglobin.

Non-invasive tissue temperature measurements based on quantitative diffuse optical spectroscopy (DOS) of water.
We describe the development of a non-invasive method for quantitative tissue temperature measurements using Broadband diffuse optical spectroscopy (DOS). Our approach is based on well-characterized opposing shifts in near-infrared (NIR) water absorption spectra that appear with temperature and macromolecular binding state. Unlike conventional reflectance methods, DOS is used to generate scatter...

Diffuse near-infrared tomography of tissue can provide intrinsically useful information about total hemoglobin, oxygen saturation, water and cytochromes within tissue, yet to extract this information spectral data is required at many wavelengths. In this study, we examine a new approach to using multispectral continuous wave measurements through tissue along with second-derivative data analysis...

A multimodality instrument that integrated optical or near-infrared spectroscopy into a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) breast coil was used to perform a pilot study of image-guided spectroscopy on cancerous breast tissue. These results are believed to be the first multiwavelength spectroscopic images of breast cancer using MRI-guided constraints, and they show the cancer tumor to have high he...

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES Near-infrared (NIR) diffuse optical spectroscopy and imaging may enhance existing technologies for breast cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment. NIR techniques are based on sensitive, quantitative measurements of functional contrast between healthy and diseased tissue. In this study, the authors quantified the origins of this contrast in healthy breasts. MATERIAL...
